Electronic Cruise Control Page 3
After you have got the wires pulled through cruise stalk, install the cruise control housing from the Cadillac.
After the housing is installed, you'll need to resolder the wires on the 4 wire cruise switch from the late model set up. Be sure to match the wire color with the scribed mark you made on the switch. Check the switch for continuity on its terminals using this chart.
Install the switch back in the housing. Push it all the way in, the install the retaining ring. Use a small socket to push the retaining in to seat in in place. Install the end button.
The next thing to do is to modify the switch slider cover so it can be activated in its full position.
Take the switch cover and with a small file, carefully file the left side of the cover ONLY. It needs to be done on the left side, so the switch slider can be pushed all the way to the left, to lock the switch in the off position. The second picture shows approximately what needs to be the total length of the opening about 7/16". Then install the switch slider (actuator) in place and then install the slider cover.
With the cover in place, move the switch slider to the left, it should click into place. Then move the switch all the way to the right, then take your finger off. It should go back to the middle of opening. Then push the switch slider all the way to the left, it should snap in place. If it didn't, take the cover back off and file some more off, only about a 1/32" to 1/16". Once you are satisfied with the operation of switch, you are ready to reinstall it in your vehicle.
The first picture above shows the finished item, ready for installation. The second picture shows the final installation in my Camaro. Once you have reinstalled the cruise/turn signal stalk, connect the wiring, make sure the appropriate connections have been made, secure the cruise control module so it does not interfere with the brake or gas pedal.
